Robert Carradine - Lewis
Telling the comic tale of a group of outcasts who find themselves persecuted on a college campus where jocks and campus bullies have picked on and repeatedly put them down, Nerds follows their fight to end "nerd persecution" once and for all. Little did they know that they'd encourage an entire generation of outcasts to embrace their inner nerd—and that Revenge of the Nerds would lay the groundwork for decades of nerd worship to come. A landmark for '80s comedies, the film also launched the careers of almost every member of its cast. As you can imagine, these stars have changed quite a bit over the years. Who's ready to see what's become of the Tri-Lambs since the '80s? With his sharp features and goofy grin, Robert Carradine hardly fit the bill of a typical leading man in Hollywood. But then, Revenge of the Nerds was hardly a typical movie. One that now includes his daughter Ever, who can currently be seen in the Emmy-winning adaptation of The Handmaid's Tale all the kids are talking about. You probably know Anthony Edwards from the eight seasons he spent playing Dr. You might also know him for his turn as Goose in Top Gun , or from supporting roles in movies like Northfork and Zodiac.

Had the authors of the Book of Psalms in the Old Testament or Matthew in the New Testament beheld ''Revenge of the Nerds,'' it is altogether likely that they would have put their papyrus to the torch rather than inscribe it with the forecast that the meek would inherit the earth. The nerds in question - ''nerd'' being a slang term defined by the Second College Edition of the New World Dictionary as ''persons regarded as contemptibly dull, unsophisticated, ineffective, etc. Slightly more than a dozen of these outcasts - among them a couple of hometown friends Robert Carradine, who builds robots, and Anthony Edwards, a computer-friendly user , an effeminate black, a pre-teen-age genius, a slob called Booger and a Japanese who snaps lots of pictures - are persecuted by the football players who belong to a fraternity called Alpha Beta and scorned by the alluring women who belong to Pi Delta Pi. In gaining their so-called revenge, the pariahs turn to a previously all- black fraternity for a charter and physical protection, employ hidden cameras to spy on the nude coeds and win an interfraternity competition, whose contests include belching. In this attenuated minute movie, only a couple of scenes - Mr. Carradine caparisoned as a Hugh Hefner look-alike after losing his virginity and the outcasts performing as a rock band - display inventive wit. It is the absence of genuine comedy that exposes glaringly the film's fundamental attitude of condescension and scorn toward blacks and women, and a tendency toward stereotyping that clashes violently with its superficial message of tolerance, compassion and fair play.
